Dr. Heather Gietzen completed her Bachelor of Science in Biology at Wayne State University. She went on to earn her Doctorate of Dental Medicine (DMD) at the University of Pennsylvania. She then spent 3 years furthering her studies at the University of Michigan where she received her Specialty Certificate in Orthodontics and a Masters of Science in Orthodontics. Her research earned her the Thomas M. Graber Award of Special Merit and she is published in the American Journal of Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics.
Dr. Gietzen is a Diplomate of the American Board of Orthodontics, a Past President of the Michigan Association of Orthodontists, and the President of the Council of Michigan Dental Specialties.
She is also a member of the American Association of Orthodontists, the World Federation of Orthodontists, the Great Lakes Association of Orthodontists, the American Dental Association, the Michigan Dental Association, the West Michigan District Dental Society, and the Kent County Dental Society.
Dr. Gietzen attends local study clubs and continuing education courses across the country in order to provide the latest information and best treatment available for her patients.
She enjoys volunteering for the Tooth Time event at the Grand Rapids Childrens' Museum and being a member of the Lowell Rotary Club and Lowell Chamber of Commerce.
When not involved with orthodontics, she enjoys spending time with her family. She also enjoys being outdoors, golfing, and watching and playing sports.
She truly loves being an orthodontist and feels privileged to get to help people in Lowell and the surrounding communities.
